Home tuition that fits you
I provide personalised tuition fitted to the student’s needs and abilities at all levels in Maths and Physics. My aim is to assess and find the best approach to allow the student understand the material but mainly to master exam questions and technique. I tutor regularly National 5 to Advanced Higher and often GCSE to A level in both subjects. I also offer support for College/University students in both subjects and related. Tuition takes place in the students home or online with Zoom and iPad/apple pencil using screen/whiteboard sharing as if I was present. The sessions are backed up by post tuition pdf notes and set weekly exercises (as required) emailed to the parents. Tuition sessions are usually 1 hour weekly, sometimes fortnightly.I’m prepared to travel from Nairn in the West to Elgin in the East and Lossiemouth to the North. Online of course you can be anywhere!
About Me
18 years of successful Maths and Physics tutoring
My name is Jonathan Benn and I live in Forres, Moray, Scotland. After completing my degree and PhD in Theoretical Physics at Newcastle University and Imperial College London, respectively I worked for 10 years in Engineering. I moved to Scotland and began tutoring full time in 2007 and have never looked back!My students and parents say my attitude is calm, relaxed and patient! My approach to tutoring is to be structured when need be but not too much, I prefer to adapt to the students needs. I like to be an alternative but complementary voice to the classroom one, mostly reinforcing but sometimes showing a different but equally valid route. My tuition always leads to an improvement in the students confidence and in the vast majority of cases improved results.I am fully PVG checked and copies of this and my qualifications are available on request.

While Maths and Physics are highly desired Tuition subjects I aim to provide a valued service to all my customers. My prices start from £25 per hour for tuition. For travel outwith Forres I include a mileage charge of 45 pence per mile. If possible the travel cost will be shared between customers over each journey.
